    Frequently asked questions

    Are the webcams live?

    Yes. MEO Beachcam cameras stream live on MEO's site, which opens in a new tab (free, may show ads). Cameras marked Watch here are YouTube live streams published by their owners, which you can watch on this page.

    Is there a Porto webcam?

    Yes. At Foz there are the Homem do Leme and Carneiro cams, with Matosinhos and Leça da Palmeira next door (MEO). Type "Porto" in the search.

    What about Póvoa de Varzim?

    We have not found a public camera in Póvoa de Varzim. The closest is Caxinas, in Vila do Conde, about 3 km away. If you know one, tell us.

    Why is a camera not working?

    The cameras belong to third parties: maintenance, bad weather or network faults can take them offline. Try another angle of the same beach (listed in the camera panel) or a camera nearby.

    Where do the sea conditions come from?

    From the Open-Meteo model: swell height and period, water temperature, wind and air temperature. They are estimates for that stretch of coast, not measurements on the beach — always check on site and follow the flags.

    What is the best time to go?

    It depends on the wind. On the west coast in summer, the north wind (the "nortada") tends to pick up in the afternoon, so mornings are usually glassier. Each camera panel shows the next hours and the best time of the day.
