Homem do Leme Beach is in Foz do Douro, Porto's seaside district, beside Avenida de Montevideu. It is named after Américo Gomes's 1934 bronze statue of a helmsman at the entrance, a tribute to the city's fishermen. Visit Porto describes a rocky beach with 374 metres of sand that is popular with families thanks to its two playgrounds. In the bathing season it has lifeguards, showers, toilets and a beach concession, and it is part of the Praia Acessível scheme, with an amphibious chair. STCP buses run along the Foz seafront.
