Portugal, a world-class destination

The Atlantic washes 1,800 km of Portuguese coastline, generating unique conditions for all levels — from beginners to big wave professionals.

Best Season

October to April is the golden season — the North Atlantic generates regular and powerful swells. Summer (June–September) is ideal for beginners: smaller waves, warmer water (19–22°C) and better conditions for lessons.

Wave Types

Beach break — sandy bottom, more forgiving, ideal for learning. Reef break — reef, powerful and consistent. Point break — long, predictable waves, perfect for improving technique.

Who Is It For?

Beginner → Caparica or Amado with a school. Intermediate → Arrifana or Guincho. Advanced/Pro → Supertubos or Nazaré. Assess your level before choosing a spot for maximum safety.

Already catching waves but want to improve? Arrifana (consistent point break) and Guincho (demanding, strong wind) are the right spots to level up with a surf coach.

Advanced / Pro

Supertubos hosts the WSL CT. Nazaré has the world's biggest waves. At this level, the only limit is ambition — and North Atlantic swell conditions.
