Praia de Alvor, in the municipality of Portimão, is a broad stretch of sand facing the Ria de Alvor estuary, on a long sandbar backed by dunes. It has two lifeguarded bathing areas: Alvor Poente and Alvor Nascente, also known as Três Irmãos, which ends in rocks you can cross to Prainha at low tide. Portimão council singles it out as a good place for children to watch wildlife up close. Alvor Poente is on the 2026 Accessible Beach list, with bathing equipment and assistance. MEO Beachcam has two webcams on the beach: Alvor and Alvor Nascente.
