Prainha lies east of Praia dos Três Irmãos in Alvor, by the Ponta João d'Arens headland. It is a string of small shell-shaped coves separated by water-carved rock, with arches, caves and sea stacks; some can only be reached at low tide. Rockfalls are frequent: Portimão's tourist board says almost all of the sand lies within the cliff-collapse risk zone and lists it as a restricted-use beach, so keep well away from the cliffs. The rocky inlets are popular for diving. It is not an official bathing water, so the water is not tested.
