Beach guide
Castelejo Beach lies on the Atlantic coast of Vila do Bispo municipality, within the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park. Golden sand sets off the black schist rocks, and at low tide the beach joins neighbouring Cordoama. Powerful waves make for good surfing and bodyboarding. There is free parking by the beach, a bar and a restaurant, and lifeguards are on duty through the bathing season, from June to September. Summer sea temperatures average 18–21 °C. At low tide the sand carries on past Cordoama to Barriga Beach.

- At low tide you can walk along the sand to Cordoama and Barriga; check the tide table first so the way back is not cut off.
- With waves this strong, only swim in the lifeguarded area during the bathing season (1 June to 30 September in 2026).
