About the beach
A beach on the west coast of the Vila do Bispo municipality, between Cape St Vincent and Praia do Castelejo, surrounded by dark schist cliffs. It is named after a large reddish sea stack at its southern end, where a wave well known to surfers breaks. Access is on foot only, down a moderately difficult path where the cliff slope is gentler. There are no buildings and, despite the surfers, it stays quiet. It is not an official bathing water: the water is not tested and there is no lifeguard.
