The Atlantic beach is long and open, with Excellent water quality — one of the sharpest possible contrasts with the urban landscape of Faro, only minutes away. The Ria Formosa, visible on the interior side of the island, has the distinct character of a lagoon — diverse birdlife, calm water and the geometry of the salt pans that run through the nature park. For the residents of Faro, it is the closest sea outlet from the city — and one of the most accessible in the entire Algarve.
