About the beach
At Garrão the cliffs give way to broad dune fields close to the Ria Formosa. The beach runs alongside two freshwater lagoons, Dunas Douradas and Garrão, visited by waterbirds, with a footpath and boardwalks over the dunes. The lagoons are not suitable for bathing. It has restaurants, toilets, lifeguards in the bathing season, and Garrão Poente is a designated accessible beach.
