About the beach
Beach east of Quarteira where the reddish cliffs give way to the mouth of the Almargem stream. When the stream does not reach the sea it forms a small brackish lagoon, popular with cormorants and grey herons and surrounded by stone pine and cork oak woodland. It is a quieter area than the neighbouring beaches of Quarteira and Forte Novo. Neighbouring Praia do Loulé Velho, just to the east, is a separate bathing water and holds the Praia Acessível 2026 award.
