Beach guide
The beach known as Carrapateira is officially Bordeira Beach. It lies north of Carrapateira village in Aljezur municipality, where the Bordeira stream meets the sea. With about 3 km of sand, it is the longest beach in the municipality, bounded by tall cliffs to the north and south. The dunes are very well preserved, and the stream runs along the eastern side, sometimes forming a lagoon that children enjoy. Strong, steady winds make it a kitesurfing spot, and it is also popular with surfers and bodyboarders. Two wooden boardwalks lead down to the sand, and lifeguards are on duty in the bathing season.
