Amado Beach is the southernmost beach in Aljezur municipality, near the village of Carrapateira on the Costa Vicentina. A broad sweep of sand runs between tall cliffs that jut into the sea, and at its northern end the Pontal da Carrapateira, a rocky headland, holds habitats listed as priorities for conservation in Europe. It is considered one of Portugal's best surf beaches: the seabed, swell and prevailing winds combine to produce ideal waves, and it draws surfers all year. Surf and bodyboard schools work here, it hosts national and international contests and it is lifeguarded in season. The MEO Praia do Amado webcam streams the surf live.
