Praia do Seixal

About the beach

Praia do Seixal is one of the best-known beaches on the north coast of Madeira — a stretch of dark pebble and sand in a natural amphitheatre formed by tall basalt cliffs, with a waterfall that descends directly onto the beach during periods of higher flow. Water quality is Excellent. The north coast of Madeira receives stronger Atlantic swell than the south, which means bathing conditions vary with the season. The adjacent natural rock pools provide an alternative on rough-sea days. The landscape setting — between lava cliffs and the open ocean — is one of the most dramatic in the entire archipelago.
