About the beach

Praia das Maçãs sits on the Sintra coastline, in a village that has preserved its character as a small-scale seaside resort over the decades — served by a historic tram that descends from Sintra to the beach, turning the journey into an experience that goes beyond simply reaching the water. Water quality is Excellent. The sandy stretch is contained in size, and the Atlantic swell along this coast is open and frank — well suited for surfing and bodyboarding. Praia das Maçãs is the endpoint of a coastal sequence that includes beaches such as Azenhas do Mar and Magoito — each with its own character, all within the boundaries of the Parque Natural de Sintra-Cascais.
