Praia de Tróia sits on the Tróia Peninsula, a spit of sand that separates the Sado estuary from the Atlantic, accessible from Setúbal by ferry. The Atlantic beach is long, with open swell and Excellent water quality. On the opposite side, the estuary-facing margins offer calm water and different conditions. The boat crossing over the Sado — where dolphin sightings are regularly recorded — is part of the experience of visiting Tróia. The peninsula is large enough to absorb summer visitors without losing the natural character of its more remote sections.
