About the beach

Ribeira d'Ilhas is the main surf break of the Ericeira World Surfing Reserve — a point break that runs along a low cliff north of the village, producing conditions that attract surfers from around the world during winter and spring. Water quality is Excellent. The beach has the character of a surf destination: the natural cliff terraces, the quality of the right-hand waves and the concentration of experienced surfers give it an energy different from conventional bathing beaches. On days of large swell, it is one of the most impressive natural spectacles on this coast — accessible on foot from the village of Ericeira.
