Praia de São Sebastião

About the beach

A small cliff-backed beach at the northern end of Ericeira town, between Algodio beach to the south and Matadouro beach to the north. A staircase paved in traditional Portuguese cobbles leads down to the fine sand, so the climb back up is hard work. On the promenade above there are cafés and restaurants with sea views. Surfers use it, especially on days with bigger waves. It is not an official bathing water: the water is not tested and there is no lifeguard.
