Zambujeira do Mar is one of the most sheltered beaches on the Costa Vicentina — the sandy cove sits between tall cliffs that block the wind and create an almost theatrical sense of seclusion. Water quality is Excellent. Access is via a descent through cliff vegetation that brings the ocean into view gradually. The beach is also known for the Sudowest NOS music festival, which transforms the natural cliff amphitheatre into one of the most singular open-air festival settings in the country. Outside the festival season, Zambujeira is a surf beach with rural identity and a character entirely its own.
