About the beach

A small sandy beach between cliffs about 2 km from the village of Brejão, in the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park. It used to be called Praia da Assenha and was renamed after the fado singer Amália Rodrigues built a house on the clifftop and allowed public access along the estate's path. Take the dirt road off the Brejão–Azenha do Mar road, then a path of about 10 minutes beside a stream that ends in a long flight of steps. A small waterfall drops onto one end of the beach. It is not an official bathing water: the water is not tested and there is no lifeguard.
