Praia de São Martinho do Porto is unique on the Portuguese Atlantic coast: the almost completely enclosed shell-shaped bay transforms what would otherwise be an exposed Atlantic beach into an environment of calm, warm summer water, sheltered from wind and swell. Water quality is Excellent. The shape of the bay — with its narrow south-facing entrance — creates conditions uniquely suited to families and children. The village of São Martinho do Porto, built around the seafront overlooking the bay, adds human scale to the setting. It is one of the genuinely different beaches on the entire Estremadura coast.
