Praia de Carvoeiro is the village beach of Carvoeiro, in the municipality of Lagoa, with white houses cascading down the slope to the sand. Where small wooden fishing boats once sat, tour boats now wait to take groups to the sea caves carved into the rock. Access to the sand is direct, and the beach is on the 2026 Accessible Beach list, with bathing equipment. Lifeguards are on duty in the bathing season, and there is a bar, restaurant, toilets and parking. Clifftop paths and viewpoints include the Algar Seco boardwalk, about 600 metres long. Good to know
- The Algar Seco trail has about 600 metres of boardwalk over the cliffs; Vamus route 107 has its own Algar Seco stop as well as Carvoeiro (Centro).
- Boat trips to the caves leave from the beach. If the route includes the Algar de Benagil, landing on the sand inside it has been banned since 2024.
