About the beach
A small cove between Carvoeiro and Benagil, about 500 m west of Praia de Benagil. The sand is tucked between tall ochre cliffs, with a large sea stack standing in the middle of the beach. You get down to the sand down a stairway and through a narrow, unlit tunnel dug by hand through the rock. The council warns the cliffs are unstable: keep away from their base. The high walls give shade in the morning and late afternoon. The sand is full of shells and the water is clear and cold. It is not an official bathing water: the water is not tested and there is no lifeguard.
