About the beach

Praia de Apúlia, in Esposende, is known for its rock formations that emerge from the sand at low tide, creating an irregular and visually interesting landscape. Water quality is Excellent. The dunes of Apúlia form part of the dune system of the Parque Natural do Litoral Norte, a nature reserve that protects this stretch of coastline. The Atlantic swell — frequent and of considerable size — attracts surfers. It is a beach of pure north-Atlantic character: wind, sand, rocks and an uninterrupted horizon — the kind of coast that is becoming increasingly rare along the Portuguese shoreline.
