About the beach

The largest beach in the Oeiras municipality, a long stretch of sand between the mouth of the Ribeira da Laje and the 17th-century Fort of São João das Maias, bounded by groynes. It faces the Jardim Almirante Gago Coutinho, is reached from the seafront promenade and a pedestrian underpass, and is lit at night. Conditions suit surfing, bodyboarding and kitesurfing.
