About the beach

Praia de São Torpes sits south of Sines, in a transition zone between the industrial port coastline and the beginning of the wilder Alentejo coast. Water quality is Excellent. The beach is extensive and relatively easy to reach, with dunes stabilised by coastal vegetation. The Atlantic swell conditions make it popular with surfers, and the frequent south-westerly wind also attracts windsurfers. It is a beach with an open horizon and few visual interruptions — the kind of coastal stretch that is rare in the vicinity of an industrial centre.
