About the beach

A beach in the parish of Porto da Cruz on Madeira's north-east coast, with a dark shore of black sand and pebbles, surrounded by green mountains. It is above all one of the region's benchmark surf spots, used by surfers of all levels and by several surf schools and activity operators. Access is free, but there are no facilities or lifeguards.
