About the beach

A volcanic black-sand beach in a cove west of Porto da Cruz, beneath a green mountain; depending on the season and currents, the sand may give way to pebbles. It is popular with surfers. It has a bar, changing rooms, toilets, sunlounger and fixed sunshade hire, a children's play area and street parking, but no lifeguard is assigned.
