About the beach
A pebble beach in Caniçal, east of the mouth of the Ribeira do Natal, in a valley bounded by rocky cliffs. A seafront promenade runs along the bay and links the bathing area to Caniçal and the Whale Museum. Access is free and there is a lifeguard during the bathing season, sunloungers and fixed sunshades, a beach bar and parking.
