About the beach
A sandy beach in Caniçal, near the Ponta de São Lourenço, which stands out from most of the island's beaches for its natural, copper-coloured volcanic sand. The surroundings are arid, in yellow and brown tones, and include the Dunas da Piedade, limestone fossil dunes of geomorphological interest. It has food outlets, changing rooms and toilets, parasols, sun loungers and parking.
