About the beach

Cabedelinho beach is on the south bank of the Mondego estuary, in São Pedro (Gala), facing Figueira da Foz and north of Cabedelo beach, known for surfing. It is an estuary beach associated with sensitive natural systems and heavily used in summer, according to the Portuguese Environment Agency. A lifeguard is on duty in the bathing season. Being at the river mouth, its water quality depends on river discharges: in August 2023 swimming was temporarily banned because of contamination. Water quality was rated Sufficient in 2025.
