About the beach

Praia do Palheirão lies about 9 km north of Praia da Tocha, on an exposed stretch of Atlantic coast with an energetic sea. It runs for several kilometres of fine white sand between dune ridges and a vast forest, with no town nearby. Water quality was rated excellent in 2025, and the municipality reports a Qualidade de Ouro award in 2024.
