About the beach
Santa Marinha, or Cortegaça Sul, is a natural beach of fine sand about 800 metres south of Cortegaça beach (by the campsite), in Ovar, between Cortegaça and São Pedro de Maceda. It has been a supervised bathing water since 2024, opened by Ovar council to give bathers more space. A lifeguard is on duty in the bathing season, from 13 June to 15 September, and it is busiest in July and August. Coastal fog is frequent in summer. It does not yet have an annual water quality rating.
