About the beach

A long sandy beach backed by dunes on the southern stretch of Costa da Caparica, between Praia do Infante and Fonte da Telha. It has been an official naturist beach since 1995, by decision of Almada's municipal assembly; the southern part, known as Praia 19, is the most popular with naturists and the LGBT community. The northern part, including Nova Vaga, has lifeguards and a concession in the bathing season (1 June to 30 September 2026), with sunshades, toilets, a bar and parking. Conditions are good for surfing, bodyboarding and kitesurfing. Water quality was rated Excellent in 2025.
