About the beach
Ocean beach at the Farol settlement on Culatra Island, next to the 46-metre Cabo de Santa Maria lighthouse, in the Ria Formosa. It can only be reached by sea, on the ferries from Faro or Olhão, or by water taxi; on foot, Culatra village is about an hour away along the sand. It has a wide stretch of pale sand, a beach bar and a lifeguard during the bathing season.
