About the beach
The ocean-facing beach of Armona Island in the Ria Formosa, reached on foot from the jetty through the village and the dunes, a walk of about 1.5 km. The sand stretches eastwards and, near the inlet, sandbanks form natural pools, though currents there are strong. Boats run from Olhão all year. It has a beach bar, toilets and lifeguards in the bathing season.
