About the beach
A river beach on the Alqueva reservoir, about one kilometre from the village of Alqueva, which gave the dam its name. It has a lawn with sunshades, lifeguards, a roped-off swimming area for children, equipment for people with reduced mobility, leisure equipment hire, parking, and a bar and restaurant overlooking the lake; it is on the Praia Acessível list. In July 2026 bathing was advised against for two days as a precaution because of a cyanobacteria bloom.
