About the beach
A small sandy cove between limestone cliffs near Ponta da Piedade, in Lagos. Access on foot is by a wooden staircase down the cliff, but it is closed: last winter's storms damaged the staircase and the slope, and the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA, ARH Algarve) shut it for safety reasons. In August 2026 it was still closed, with no reopening date. While the closure lasts, the beach can only be reached from the sea, on boat or kayak trips. It is an official bathing water, with a 2026 season from 1 June to 30 September. Water quality was rated Sufficient in 2025.
