About the beach

Beach at the northern end of the Torres Vedras coast, at the mouth of the River Alcabrichel, enclosed by cliffs that form a small bay with calm water. By the bridge the river cuts through the Escarpas da Maceira, and there are caves with prehistoric remains nearby. A cycle path links Porto Novo with Santa Cruz. Praia de Santa Rita lies just to the south. Water quality rated Excellent in 2025; Blue Flag and Praia Acessível (accessible beach) awards in 2026.
