About the beach

River beach on the River Alva in the village of Sandomil, on the south-western slope of the Serra da Estrela. The left bank has a large lawn shaded by plane and alder trees, a picnic area, a bar, a playground and changing rooms, with a medieval bridge upstream. The water was classified as poor ("Má") in 2025 (and in 2024), so check bathing advice locally.
