Galapinhos Beach lies on the Setúbal coast, inside the Arrábida Natural Park and the Professor Luiz Saldanha Marine Park. It is a cove of sand ringed by thickly wooded cliffs, where the sea is usually calm and clear enough for snorkelling and spotting marine life. In 2017 travellers voted it Europe's best beach. No road reaches the sand: you walk in from neighbouring Galapos Beach or follow a path down from the road to a flight of steps. In summer, car access is restricted under Setúbal council's 'Arrábida sem Carros' scheme, with a shuttle bus in season.

Good to know
- In summer 2026, cars could only enter the stretch from the Pinheiro junction to Galapos while parking spaces were available; from 7am to 8pm the road shut once it filled up.
- Without a car, Carris Metropolitana route 4470 runs from Setúbal to Creiro via Azeitão, where the 4477 shuttle continues to Galapos. Route 4470 takes the Navegante pass and the shuttle is free.
- At high tide, rocks cut Galapinhos off from Galapos; time the walk along the sand for low tide.
