About the beach

Small pebble cove on Porto Santo's south-west coast, about 1 km north-west of Ponta da Calheta, enclosed by volcanic cliffs. It is geosite PSt02 in Madeira's geodiversity network, with pillow lavas and dykes clearly visible on the way down. Access is rated difficult: the nearest paved road is about 930 metres away and the rest is a downhill walk. Kayak tours from Calheta also stop here. It is not an official bathing water: the water is not tested and there is no lifeguard.
