About the beach
The beach of the village of São Bernardino, framed by cliffs whose sandy layers to the north and clay layers to the south record ancient Jurassic rivers. A Franciscan hermitage, later a convent, was built here in the 15th century, and until the 1960s the beach was known for its 'hot baths' of heated seawater. It has a concession café and a lifeguard in summer.
