About the beach
A rural beach in Carreço with a wide stretch of sand and a consolidated dune system, in a quiet cove sheltered from northerly winds, among granite outcrops and small coves. Highlights are the Paçô Fort, a Property of Public Interest since 1967, and, on the dune to the north, old granite 'sea houses' once used to shelter boats and seaweed-gathering gear. It is served by train and bus.
