About the beach

A natural beach in Afife, on the parish's coastal nature trail and within the Litoral Norte Natura 2000 site. It has about 1 km of fine to medium quartz-rich sand with schist outcrops, in a shell-shaped bay sheltered by a dune system that now shows signs of heavy erosion. To the north, at Carrasqueira, an ancient raised beach of sand and rounded pebbles is visible, and the shore holds 'câmboas', old artisanal fishing structures. Access is from the EN13 road, and it is popular for sea angling.
