About the beach

A beach of about 1 km of fine sand, with a rocky strip between the dunes and the sand, sheltered from strong northerly winds by the Montedor headland, home to the northernmost lighthouse in mainland Portugal. It is popular with families and for sea angling, and European shags can be seen on the rocks. It has lifeguards, showers, parking, a bar and a restaurant, and is part of the Praia Acessível programme.
