On the south bank of the River Mira, opposite Vila Nova de Milfontes, Praia das Furnas has two fronts: about 500 m facing the sea by the river mouth, and a long riverside stretch in the estuary, where the water is calm and shallow at low tide. Conditions suit windsurfing, sailing, canoeing and stand-up paddleboarding. It is reached via the bridge or by boat. There is parking, toilets, a restaurant, a campsite, a lifeguard in summer and the Praia Acessível 2026 award on both fronts.
