About the beach

A beach on a barrier island of fine white sand at the eastern end of the Ria Formosa, opposite Cacela Velha and the hamlet of Fábrica, also known as Praia de Cacela Velha. From May to October, fishermen ferry visitors across from Sítio da Fábrica. The Vila Real de Santo António council and the Maritime Authority advise against wading across the lagoon: on the ebb tide the currents pull out to sea. It lies within the Ria Formosa Natural Park.
