About the beach
River beach on the São João stream in the Serra da Lousã, at the spot known as 'Burgo', two kilometres from the town along a mountain road, beside Arouce Castle and the Senhora da Piedade chapels. It has a café with a terrace, a sunbathing area and a restaurant in a setting built around schist, and had lifeguard cover in 2026. From 1 to 21 July 2026 bathing was advised against as a precaution because of works.
