About the beach
An urban beach of black basaltic sand, known locally as Praia Pequena, in the parish of Livramento. The São Caetano Fort separates it from neighbouring Milícias beach, and at its ends are old vineyard plots enclosed by basalt walls. Bathing is in open sea over a sandy bottom. It has parking, a bar and changing rooms, has lifeguard supervision and is used all year round.
