About the beach

A black volcanic-sand beach in the parish of São Roque (Rosto de Cão), Ponta Delgada, with a straight frontage of about 330 m. Bathing is in the open sea over a sandy bottom, with high exposure to the swell. A long promenade and garden run along its northern side; there is a restaurant/snack bar, changing rooms and two car parks, to the east and west, with the bar and changing rooms open only in the bathing season. It holds the Praia Acessível (Accessible Beach) 2026 award.
